Now this is getting a little weird. How can any fair minded person call a set of Strap Hinges a tool? Well, stay with me here. See, these hinges have a purpose, and that purpose is to allow a panel to swing in and out of place. Sometimes they are used for gates, and they can be referred to as Gate Hinges. No matter what you call them, they are still just a hinge. So in the strictest of definitions, I should probably not call these a tool, or be included in my Tools On Wood series, but somehow they fit. I guess I should rethink what I call this series, but I like the sound of it. A little history for these hinges; I had a lawn mowing service when I was a sixteen year old kid and these hinges were for the rear drop gate on the trailer I had made to haul my yard tools around. The old trailer finally fell apart after too many decades of use. -YoPedro
