oh wow ... does this ever bring back the memories. My dad worked for Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab ... and the jobs he did and the things he created always fascinated me. He had a "shop" there ... and well, everyone said he was a magician. What he didn't know about a compass like this, or a protractor or a sliding scale ... what was that thing called ... logarithmic slide rule?? ... well, if he didn't know it, it wasn't worth knowing. Poor man ... tried to teach me how to use them ... and all I wanted to do was make pretty pictures with them, lol. A fabulous capture. I really love this series, and it's a joy every time I come visit!!! l/f and t

Terrific compass and the almost stubby yellow pencil is a great inclusion. Love the tones and textures of your backgrounds in this series of tools. This is one of my two Picks of the Day in the Best of Minimalism in Photography group for February 8.

YoPedro replied:

Thank you Nikolyn, I appreciate that.

Artist's Description

This is one of those devices a lot of people learned to use as a kid, but never really had a lot of use for in their adult lives. This particular unit is made of iron and brass. It is a real solid tool, and while it is almost crudely formed, it is quite solid in its construction. It is deceptively heavy, a real substantial piece of equipment. Up along the edge near the top, it reads, "FRANCE", I like to think it gives this tool a touch of elegance in such a rough form. -YoPedro

About YoPedro

YoPedro

My latest images here on FAA/PIX are primarily A.I. based with a dose of manipulation tossed in. The images are not photographs, the people are not real nor are any of the stories attached to the images. It's all a craftsman's manufactured world of images and tales, of people I have never met, places I have never been, and things I have never seen or done. It's all an illusion, what I like to call 'Pixel Farming'.
