Antique Wood Drill Bit in Black and White by YoPedro

When you see and old tool like this, you have to wonder where it has been, and what service it has seen? An old drill bit like this was for rough construction, not fine woodworking, so it probably wasn't used to build fine cabinets or furniture. Most likely it drilled holes in timbers to build houses, where the final holes would not be a part of the finished surface.

This one is pretty worn down, it has been sharpened repeatedly over time, and the shape is a lot different than when it started out. It's still a fierce looking tool, don't let it's age or condition deceive you. It will cut like a straight razor given the chance, it has a well-honed edge.

I wonder how many times this old tool has been sharpened? The tip has been worn down considerably, and the edges are quite sharp. It has such a wonderful patina on it that I wonder what happened to it, there is a lot of surface rust on it.
